We have been running professional courses for over 5 years now from our North East Training Centre (NETT) and we have had hundreds and hundreds of positive testimonials and comments left on Independant Tiling and construction forums or sent back to us by e-mail or letter about how past trainees have found our courses.
You are quite welcome to come in and have a look around the centre and read any feedback from past learners
Here are some of them:
"Darren, Paul, Colin, Many thanks for giving me the skills, knowledge and confidence to take the plunge into self employment as a professional tiler. Your course was excellent and packed full of useful and practical information, I thought the contents of your course was spot on and the way Darren delivered it was great. The amount of information and practical work was fantastic, every second was utilized, it was hard work, but very worthwhile. I am looking forward to my next part of my training in February, the natural stone course and learning all about these tiles, if the course is half as good as the last one I would still be happy. You all work extremely hard and your dedication shines through, you are very friendly and approachable and treat everyone on the same level from novice to the professional, I would have no hesitation in recommending your course to any interested party, again I thank you. I will let you know how i get on, got a meeting with Business Gateway next week."
John, Scotland

"Hi, just finished the 8 day course which covers bespoke tiling and natural stone. darrens methods are second to none, and i was amazed at how much i could learn in my time there. the course is very well structured and i would reccomend it to anyone, as i can guarantee you will learn all you need to know, also how to structure your business Thanks."
Gary Greg
"Just finished the four day Tiling course which was hosted by Darren. Just Like to reiterate what most have said , I have experience with tiling in mates and family homes aswell as my own, but if I had known what I now know id have started on my own years ago. The course was well thought out, yes it was fast paced and my head was spinning at times, however with the notes Darren provided and the explanations he gave along with demonstrations and practicals, it all made sense. Bear in mind he is giving an amazing amount of knowledge in a short time and you need to listen and study!! I have showed friends including a mate of mine who was a tiler the results of the training in photo form, all thought it was a great job and I am proud of what I achieved. I'd urge anyone to visit NETT and speak to Darren and Tracey a they both are very positive people and give you all the tools you need to become a businessman."
Thanks again Darren and Tracey and I'll see you both next week on the plastering course, Jono
"Hello all, just thought i'd write a short letter to say some thank you's. I completed the plastering courses at North East construction training and i'd just like to say what an outstanding week it was. I went on the course purely for DIY and do up the house we have just bought, but am seriously considering starting up once i have done the jobs for myself and family. The level of instruction given by Derek was top class and with Debra looking after us with tea, it was a really enjoyable week and a great laugh as well and i would recommended it to anyone thinking of doing a plastering course."
To Derek, Darren and Debra many thanks again. John, Glasgow
"Got back from the 4 day plumbing course last night and im absoloutly shattered! the long drive back to derby didnt help tho!. The knowledge i gained was absoloutly phenominal! the course is extremely well structured and ive come away with the knowledge and confidence to go out there and start off my new career, knowing ill be providing a quality service. Ive a couple of bathrooms to do for friends and all being well ill have my marketing and sales planned out and ready to go in the very near future."
Thanks again to Darren & Tracey and their team.
And good luck to everyone who attended the course and those wanting to go on it. Mr Spoon.

For anyone serious about tile training then there is only one place to go N.E Tiling Training dont forget that they also do a Natural stone course and there web site gives all the information about all the courses that they run."
Thanks again N.E.T.T.
"I did the 5 day tiling and plastering course in August. Its great, listen to the sales advice. It doesnt matter how good you tile if you cant win the jobs. I have done work from saving a diy disaster to a full bathroom refurb. All my customers have been very happy with my work and I am earning plenty. Thanks to you all at nett and good luck to all the newbies, be positive and go for it."
Jenny
"Hi all, I've just finished the 8 day wall and floor course and even before I've done my first job I believe it will be the best investment I've ever made! The first week was fast & furious but the results are excellent. The second week was more laid back with lots of hands on tiling. I also did the 2 day bathroom installation which again was very interesting and learnt at lot from it. I will help a lot and make it easier when tiling bathrooms."
Darren..an inspiration Paul..a legend (cheers for second week mate, loved it!) Debs..what can I say? you're a gem! Thanks to all. Jimmy Dixon

Mark, Leeds
To all the staff at NE Tiling and Plastering, would just like to say a big thank you for such a fantastic 5 days, from talking to the lovely Debra on the phone i new it was going to be good. I would never have believed the quality of the finish that everyone had produced in 5 days had i not been there myself, truly amazing what can be achieved with the right tuition, best money ive spent, absolutlty no regrets, would recommend the course to anyone looking at a career in plastering, will be keeping in touch with a few lads that were on the course, Spinks and Tommy, what charicters they were, anyway, i will be back in touch for the tiling, that course looked great when we stuck our heads in for a look, speak to ya soon.
Jacko
Just finished the 8 day course at NE construction training and I thought it was brilliant! Darren certainly knows his stuff and is excellent at teaching the business side of things as well as the actual tiling skills.
The first 4 days are very fast paced as there is a hell of a lot of information to take in. Day 5 is the Natural Stone course and is theory and practical work but it is essential really.
Week 2 (Mon, Tue, Wed) is the advanced course and is much more laid back than week 1 as you are able to work at your own pace. You will be surprised at how fast you actually work though!
The teaching staff at NE Training are top notch and Debra & Tracey make cracking brews! I would definately recommend NET to anyone looking into doing a tiling course.
Thanks to Darren, Colin, Paul, Debra and Tracey.
Steve
Did the NE Training course in September, what an eye opener, an absolute must for anyone considering a career change or just for the diy'er. From walking in the door and being welcomed by Debbie to leaving on the Friday after the Natural stone course it was the most informative week I've had in my working life. The info that Darren delivered will stay with me for a very, very long time, not just the way he delivered the tiling course but also the buisness side of things. If your considering this course you must listen, listen and listen some more, it comes at you like a run away train, but hang in there it all comes together in the end and if you do, you will be given the confidence, knowhow, and drive to change your way of life, if thats what you want. Before this course I would'nt have had the confidence, let alone the skills to take on the jobs that I have done, but throwing myself into situations and going through the processes learned, both buisness and skill wise, I,m getting there. The course is delivered in such a way that everything sticks in your mind, maybe not at first, but when you go away and go through the "bible" it will all come back to you. I would definately consider one of Darren's other courses, i,m pretty sure they will be delivered in the same profesional manner as the one I attended.
Many thanks to Darren, Tracy, Paul, Colin and Debbie and hope to see you in the near future.
Keith
Hi, i did the Tiling and plastering course in 2006 and i have never looked back. I was employed as a telephone engineer and had never tiled before. I was impressed straight away with the professional and honest attitude when i inquired about the course, Tracey, Darrens wife was fantastic and really impressed me so i booked the course. Although a little nervous on the day you are soon made to feel at ease the way the course is structured, there is a lot to take in so pay attention! Darren really nows his stuff, and after 22 years of being a professional tiler taken this experience, and shows you the tried and tested methods, the tricks of the trade and the knowledge. The thing that impressed me was that everyone by the end of the course could tile even if you havent picked a tile up before. And when you stand back you feel really proud of what you have achieved. I also did the natural stone course which is a must, a lot of people are putting stone on the their walls and floors and you have to now what your doing or you will run into costly problems! If you need any advice on a job you can call Darren or E-mail him and he always gets back to you with sound advice, NE TT have also called me a few times with work, one job that saw me pack my bags for Aberdeen lasting 6 months, this was fantastic experience as it consisted of a 1200 square meter granite floor and then tiling all the bathrooms, spa, gym, wet rooms and toilets in the Mal Maison Hotel, dont get me wrong you wouldnt take anything on this size straight away you will probably do jobs for friends and family and gain more experience and confidence then go onto bigger projects. I feel i have achieved this all because of NETT a fantastic course well worth every penny. I still see Darren and Tracey quite oftenas i only live a few miles from the course, i go and get tools and supplies from the great range Darren has, and every time i go i always get a bit more advice from Darren. Overall for me this course has changed my life, i now have my own business ALL ABOUT TILES i cant recommend this course highly enough.
Cheers Michael.
Just finished the 4 day tiling course, and 1 day natural stone course at NETT and have to give all involved 10 out of 10. It may only be a short course but its 'All killer, No filler'. Yes it might help if you have a little (very) basic D.I.Y knowledge, yes there is a lot of information to take in - but you have comprehensive notes to review in your own time - and yes its fast paced but you only get out what you put in. Darren is a great teacher and imparts skills, tips, tricks and vital information clearly and concisely over the 4 days. In my opinion its a great course for those wishing to set up in business or just wanting to improve their tiling skills for DIY etc. I have no hesitation in recommending the course to anyone and am looking forward to the 3 day advanced course next week.
Thanks again to Darren and the rest of the team From Patrick
I was on the 4-day tiling course a couple of weeks ago and would have no qualms in endorsing Darren and his team to deliver an excellent, thorough, fast paced course which gives you the confidence, skills and knowlege to make excellent headway in the tiling game.
His methods are obviously the product of many years experience and his distilled wisdom was worth the price paid. I was so shocked to learn that one of the other guys on the course had been on another training course elsewhere (Essex?) and had came away with very little knowlege and bad habits as well as a massive hole in his wallet. My advice - get booked on this course even if it means you have to travel and stay in a B&B.
Robby Dais
just completed the course at NETT. I attended it on the 4th feb 08'. And what an amazing course it was. Darren was excellent with his way of teaching. Straight to the point with no messing. All the information he gave was worth its weight in gold. Really intense, with loads and loads of info.
Tracey was great also with her tea and coffee making skills, and very helpful with any questions you may need answering. Also the tools that Darren has are top tools. Quality gear at great prices!! I must say the course is really intense, so if your thinking cap is not sitting on your head correctly you will miss important information.
I found it like learning to drive. All the info is given to you (as long as your listening with 100% attention on what darren is saying), and when you leave your head will feel like mush! Once settled all the info he gave you can be recalled easily as its all locked away in your brain. You can then go away and with the knowledge darren has given you practise what you have learned in your own time, without being rushed and at your own pace, or you can jump straight into your first job with confidence.
The boys that help out darren are great also. There always at hand if your having a little trouble with something. GOOD ON YOU BOYS!!!
I strongly recommend this course to anyone if your serious about tiling!!
THANX AGAIN TO EVERYONE AT NETT!!!
Enzo!!
WOW.... What a great course at NE Tiling training.
I have just completed the 8 day tiling and can honestly say that the knowledge and training received was worth every penny.
Having attended many college and training centres for plumbing, plastering, a useless 5 day tiling and many engineering courses, this was easily the best one. Don't think the courses are to short to learn, you will get all of the knowledge required to start out in the tiling world.
Having paid out for courses in the past and got very little from them, I spoke to Darren first about the structure of his courses and read feedback on this forum about other peoples views on nett, before driving 220 miles and spending 11 nights away from home.
Anyone who is serious about wanting to learn tiling, this is the course for you. Darren, Tracey and all of the staff are very helpful, and easy to walk to. Thanks to you all for excellent course.
Dale, Midlands
This is the first course i have ever been on and didn't yawn once.
Darren and his really nice missus (Tracey) were great, The course was professionally taught, full of good laughs, covered everything possible with questions being answered with professional knowledge and honesty.
The techniques are so simply when you know how, but it's all the knowing how that you didn't know that he shows you - WHAT!!! The no mess silicone technique was fantastic and perfection.
Anyway, the 4 days flew over and every evening when you finished you were left buzzing and remotivated.
At the end you receive an attendance certificate and (+ college fee) a level 2 (GCSE A*-C equivalent) certificate.
Well worth the money for the amount of knowledge and skill you come away with. but book quick cos there is a long waiting list.
Cheers Elliot
Finished the NETT course last night and had a fantastic time (Although quite exhausting!)
I decided on a change of career into tiling and did extensive research into what course to take, I was intending on doing a 4 week course somewhere as I could afford it and had finished my last job so had no commitments. During my research.
I kept hearing great things about NE Tiling but I was very sceptical of what you can learn in 4 days. In the end I decided that so many people can't be wrong and if they were I'd only shelled out £400 instead of a grand and a half which you would pay for a 4 week course.
The course was fantastic teaching you all the aspects of tiling and giving you the opportunity to tile your own bathroom bay, Darren teaches you to work at speed and teaches you all the different techniques that you need, I'd never picked up a tile in my life but I finished my bay very quickly to a good standard, ability and speed will obviously come with practise.
You also learn invaluable advice on ways to market yourself and to find work, without these it doesn't matter how good you are at tiling, if you can't find the work you won't earn any money. This course also gives you the chance to get a recognised qualification instead of a useless certificate that no-one cares about.
I find it better to go on a course like this where your given the knowledge, you put it into practise then you move on and learn something else straight after.
The money you save on a 4 week course will pay for all your tools and give you enough left to tile your whole home so you can work in an actual house instead of a training environment. If anyone wants some impartial advice about the course feel free to pm me.
I would just like to say a big thank you to Darren, Paul and Tracey, they all look after you and make sure you have a great time
Steve Dibble
Just thought i would give you my honest opinion about this course...its was excellent. darren has over 22 years experience as a time served professional tiler and it shows. he has also taught at college to british standards and he delivers the course in a very professional, efficient manner. he has crammed all his experience and teaching techniques into a very good course and i would not waste 4 weeks of your time and money when their is a guy out their who can deliver the same in a week!
The setting out techniques were brilliant. all your cuts projected onto 1 wall so you know where every tile will be. It took 5 minutes to do this!! his free out curve cuts were amazing. Darren also ensures you have the correct business acumen to succeed. his course will cover advertising and marketing because lets face it, you could be the best tiler in the world but if you dont know how to get the work in then your skills are no use.
I also did the natural stone course and the level2 accreditation. I am a plasterer by trade and have 21 years of renovation experience so i probably found the course easier than a complete beginer, so bear that in mind when reading this but i have an HNC in building studies so i know a good teacher and a tradesman when a see one.
Darrens wife tracey helps the course run smoothly and she is very friendly and helpful so give her a call and she will tell you all you need to know. I will only recommend somebody if they impress me and north east tiling training did exactly that. The week flew by, everything i learned in still in my head, that’s how good it is........
all the best Jason
Hi Folks, I would just like to say what has already been said many times before on here, I thought the course at NE Tiling was really good and valuble experience for me. I done the four day tiling followed by one day natural stone day. Every part i found really interesting and i am looking forward to giving tiling a go as my new career.
Thanks to Darren , Tracey and Colin for all their help and advice. Hope to speak to you again soon.
Scott from Aberdeen.

I've now completed the 8 day bespoke course at NE Tiling. Its a fantastic course and covers a vast amount of information and there is plenty of knowledge to take on board. I really enjoyed the 3 day bespoke course taken by Darren. We covered a lot of stuff in the 3 days and felt they were invaluable. All the advice regarding setting up the business is really helpful. Anyone with some determination wanting to get into tiling this is the place to go.
I travelled from Coventry to complete the course having read the feedback on this site and it was a worthy journey. From my first phone call to Tracey to book my course to the support available on completion.
Thanks guys and i'll be back for the plumbing soon the course looks great.
I finished my 4 day course yesterday, or should I say very late last night.
First of all I'd like to say that the opinions expressed are purely my own and in no way am I judging any other course available out there and in no way am I an expert on the subject.
What a busy 4 days I've just had. The course offered by North East Tiling Training certainly puts you through it both mentally and physically, but boy does it deliver the goods!
We have covered in 4 days everything from preperation work to adhesives, measuring a job to pricing, we've also covered working on different surfaces, pattern layouts, business sense, advertising, finding work and I could go on and on. A lot of people may say this is too much to take in, in 4 days, and you do have to be tuned in and listening. Darren delivers the course content though in such a way that it's really hard not to understand pretty much straight away the techniques and practices he gives you.
With over 22 years experience as a tiler he can deliver situations from the real world in which situation a certain adhesive would be used, this gives more relevance to the explanations he gives. He also tells you were he has gone wrong and what to watch out for so you don't make the same mistakes when you start out. The course days are long and on most nights it's been close on seven when you leave (8 last night) but when you do go you feel you really know and understand the day as you have a going over session before you leave just to impact the training.
Efficiency is the key as Darren would say and this is what this course is, efficient. No mess, no fuss, straight to the point, here's a demo of what you do, do you all understand, yes, right then get on and do it. For me trying yourself is the best way to learn. For instance day one of actual tiling I went home covered in cement, from my top to my jeans. Day two of tiling and I went home with only a couple of finger marks worth of cement on me, because after trying the technique all day the previous day and making my mistakes then, the second day the knowledge had sank in and I felt more confident and in turn was more able to do the job.
For anyone serious about training in tiling you can't go far wrong in my opinion. I would feel confident today to go to a customers house armed with my knowledge and measure up, quote and then turn up and do the job to a level that would give customer satisfaction. I also feel though that I could offer the customer advise on various aspects of the job in hand, the best tile choice for the job and explain why a particular adhesive was required say and add real value to my service therefore becoming more than just "a tiler". I already have my first 2 jobs lined up, a floor and a complete bathroom, small potatoes to some but hey from little acorns...... Oh yeah Darren also gives out his personal details so you can call him should you ever need to ask any questions, but he also likes to hear back from people to see how they have gone on since they finish the course. this I think makes all the difference. The personal touch.
And lastly but by no means least, a big thanks to Tracey (Darrens wife) who is so nice and has all the time in the world to speak to you. Tracey is as enthusiastic as Darren about the course and both of them together make a great team.
Apologies for the essay but I feel I need to cover what worked for me and how good this training is.
Thanks guys.
Eric.
I was expecting an intense course and it didnt disappoint, the instructor Darren certainly new his stuff and you could tell a great deal of thought had went into constructing the course in the best way for us to learn and make things stick, everything possible was explained in great detail from types of adhesive to under floor heating to self levelling compounds the lot. iv never spent money more wisely.
I attended the natural stone course as well and found it as important as the 4 day ceramic course, im armed with essential facts and information that i can now show off with.
Where am i now? after the course i got 2 jobs from word of mouth within a fortnight which i did at weekends while i remained at my old job and got everything in place, tools van etc, im now advertising and been quoting alot even though its a fairly quiet time of year, im starting a bathroom tomorrow and quoting a health club tomorrow aswell for some re-routing. By the spring i hope to be established and a fine reputation acquired to.
In my opinion if you are looking to become a tiler i wouldn’t look past Darren and his North East Tiling Centre, in not the first success and i certainly wont be the last.
Good luck. Michael McMillan
Well I have just returned from Darrens course in South Shields and can't say enough about the course.
ITS THE DOGS BOLLOCKS!!
Some of the teqniques are nothing short of genius. The instructions were so good that I think I did a feature on my wall in under 25 minutes, I would never ever have thought about attempting to do that let alone know where to start.
If you listen carefully to darren during the course ALL of the information is there. I just hope he doesn't teach too many guys from Fife as I want it all to myself (Darren if you read this I'm Joking NOT)
Im off to price a full bathroom tomorrow and start another job on Monday. I heard myself tell the customer that the job on Monday will be half a day. I can cut around a sink in a couple of minutes thanks to my new found skills whereas previously there would have been much gnashing of teeth and breaking of tiles.
I think other courses will need to go some to beat this one
Keep up the good work Darren from Warren (fife)
Just completed a course at northeast tiling training, and would just like to thank darren and tracey,2 very helpful and friendly people, the course was brilliant, very informative and to the point with every aspect of tiling covered ,A must do course for beginners or even experienced tilers who want to improve their techniques, as nothing is left out..Thanx once again guys.
All the best colin p.
For anyone looking for a tiling course in Scotland I don't think there are any! For this reason, after much deliberation I chose North East Tiling Training in South Shields because I was impressed with the professionalism of the website, the feedback from previous students and when I phoned for more info Tracy was so informative and friendly she finally convinced me it was the right choice.
I would recommend this course to anyone and cannot believe how much i learned from Darren in just 1 week. I started my first tiling job the day after I returned from the course and have more work lined up in the next few weeks and I haven't even advertised yet or set up my new business venture. Wish I'd done it years ago!.
Deano
ive just completed the 8 day bespoke course and i would highly recommend this course for anyone who is thinking of setting up as a self employed tilier as this course takes in everything you will need to know from business structure , banking , dealing with customers tiling training and much much more so a massive thank you to darren and tracey for having me on their course and all the hard work they put into making my stay at north east tiling training an excellent one ,you 2 are stars also a big thanks to their staff , derek , paul and colin who where always on hand to help and answer questions , top blokes , thanks again ,

Hi
Went on the course beginning of January and it was the best thing i have done. I had never lifted a tile before in my life, i got advised to go on the course and now a have a rapidly growing business... Need i say more???
Just want to say thanks to Darren, Tracey and the rest of the team...
Would recommend the course to anyone
Danny
I did the full 9 day course at NETT and would recommend it to anyone wishing to start a new career in plastering or to add to other trades such as tiling.
Before I attended the course I had never attempted any plastering but by the end of the first day I hd achieved a perfect finish on a wall! The course covers all aspects of plastering including boarding out and skimming walls and ceilings, repairs, rendering, dot & dab, artexing, coving, arches and curved ceilings.
Derek is a brilliant instructor and his experience in the trade shows. Darren also shares his extensive knowledge of running the business side of things. This is a vital part of the course as it doesn't matter how good a plasterer you are if you have no idea how to run a business!
Everything that is covered on the course is backed up with pre-typed notes that come in handy even after you finish the course and are actually out working in the real world.
Best wishes Geordie pride
i recently completed the full 9 dayer. first week was excellent. the instructor Derek was helpful and informative. Wednesday and Thursday were the worst days mind. Wednesday i arrived to find 2 average size holes in my nicely smooth and fault free wall. roughly the size of a piece of 2 by 2 timber. let the patching commence. Thursday afternoon involved ripping it out. sounds bad but you get to see the depth of plaster and assess you and colleagues work. plus you get to see how many screws were used. get the batteries on charge.
friday involved artex and coving. coving was good. slightly mind numbing with the angles and curvature but the finish was worth it.
the second week was all round fantastic. the instructor. derek or as his alter ego states (trevor) was involved with a different course, but that meant everything we learnt in the first week was tested. Derek was always on hand to assist if needed and yet again the 2 by 2 was at hand on the Wednesday evening.
an all round fantastic course from boarding out, skimming, dot and dab, rendering and all that patch work. i would highly recommend it to anyone. whether it be diy, handyman or self employed. but let it be said dont annoy Derek or the 2 by 2 will come out and patching jobs will need to be done.
thank you n e tiling and ill be back for other courses.
SCOTTIE
Been meaning to write this thread for a while but never seem to get round to it.
I attended a course a North East Tiling a few months back now and would like to let every one know how impressed i was. Darren and Tracey who run the centre are great people, very easy to get on with and cant do enough to help. Their willingness to help continues after you finish the course, I have e mailed darren a few times to ask questioned since, always getting a quick and informative reply.
The 4 day course i attended was far more informative than i expected. Going into much more detail than i thought it would. Its not just a case of Darren teaching you to slap a few tiles onto a mock up bathroom. Darren covers all the important matters you need to be aware of before you ever see the inside of the tiling bays; Health and safety, substrates, use of different tools, adhesives, methods for fixing different tiles, setting out, measuring up work, i could go on all day.
You may think its allot to take in a few days but as you make easy notes as you go you can always look back through to jog your memory if you forget anything.
I left confident and raring to go, Business is starting to flow in now i've got my name about a bit In the first 2 months my tools have paidfor themselves and i have enough cash in the bank to splash out on a van, albeit a cheap one.
I would also recommend the natural stone course. A must if you want to earn proper money. My first stone job made me twice as much profit as a ceramic job of the same size would have.
Cheers
Wilson
Big thank you to Darren at N.E.T.T. had a great week on the tiling course,Lots to take in and lots of questions to ask Always seem to end up in a good group of people too, hope you have all enjoyed your extra 3 days .
Have landed my first job today, Kitchen plaster , splash backs, slate floor and electric matt under floor heating! Good job we had that talk on slate on fridays natural stone day. going to look at a bathroom in the morning 2.
Best of luck to you all, and thanks again to all at nett

Hi there,
Just thought i would give you my feedback on this course which i finished on Friday 2nd Feb.
I chose this course after talking to Tracey (Darrens wife), she sold it to me. I had contacted a couple of others courses, even one closer to home, but first impressions count.
The course has been structured in a way, that as the week goes on, all the pieces to the jigsaw fall into place. Everything from the basic setting out process, what type of adhesives to use, to starting up in business for yourself, if you so wish, was explained in great detail.
Everyone took an abundance of notes, which will be their own personal bible for them to refer to at anytime. You also have Darrens personal details should you wish to contact him for anymore advice. I've been in touch already and he has replied in a prompt manner.
I also did the Natural Stone Course, which totally opened my mind to the way i'm going to market my business! Do yourself a favour and get on that course, it's well worth attending.
Overall, it was an intense course. Darren pushed you all the way, which i appreciated, as i learnt a lot quicker that way. Considering i hadn't tiled in my life, i would like to think i done well and with more experience, i will provide a quality service for my customers.
Anyway, if anyone is reading this and considering a career change, contact Darren and Tracey and get yourself on the next available course. You will not be disappointed.
Regards, Colin
hi
was on the course same time as you, couldnt agree with you more, with the knowledge i was given, i feel like ive been doin the jobs for years, its amazing how much info you can take in. the way the course was structured had a great deal to do with the way i learnt and remembered it all.
i highly recommend this course to any1,worth every penny. the best investment ive ever made. jst starting getting advertised, had interest already.
once again, an amazing course. darren and tracey should be well proud of it.
Hello! I would like to give Darren and Tracey a mention who run North East Tiling. I attended the 4 day course and also the 1 day natural stone course back in August 2006, it was to me a near perfect course, it was well balanced and gave you everything you needed to know in setting up your own business as a tiler. I walked away feeling confident enough to go into someone’s house and do a professional job. I am so glad I picked this course and not a longer one as I would have got bored and probably been put off starting my own business, which I did 3 weeks after attending (I was an IT manager for the largest dairy company in the UK)
I have never looked back, I now have work from a number of kitchen centres, I have secured a contract with a letting agency who has over 1000 houses on its books, I do work for a Fired Earth franchise and the local housing association aswell as my own work, it is a good career change if you are willing to sell yourself and be confident in what you do! This is all down to Darren and Tracey, if you are thinking of attending a course choose this one, you will not be disappointed.

I have to agree with all posts on here, course was spot on, the information and training you receive in the 4 days was fantastic. No need to do a similar course over a longer period, it would be a waste of money in my eyes. Thanks Darren / Tracey for an enjoyable but very busy week.
Regards
Kevin
Just finished my training today with Darren, Paul and the lovely Tracey and thought it was well worth the money for 4 days input. Considering I blew £400 in 30secs on tools straight away. I don't think I would have made that decision had the guys not given me enough confidence to make a go at it. Infact even if you don't you could probably eat and drink the course fee in chocolate biscuits n coffee within the 4 days if Tracey had anything to do with it, lol. I don't think I'll be tiling to my quickest ability for a while but these guys really do know the tricks of the trade and have constructed the course in an easy learning, mass input, relaxed and not in the slightest bit threatening way.
So us people who havent studied for some time and are wondering how the brain absorbs a lecture takes on data etc. its very well balanced out and the entire experience is very enjoyable. Cheers Darren, Tracey and the ever helpful Paul,
Regards Starbuck
hi ya mate, I finished the course last week and found it excellent, didn't really know how much I'd taken in until I got my first job 'this week' (not bad eh!). You will find that although its fast paced, Darren does get the info into your head if you listen to him properly. You will only take from it what you want, but its all there and very well constructed. Good luck mate!

Hi all,
finished the 4 day course in jan but done natural stone yesterday and would recommend this course highly, i had my doubts about whether 4-5 days would be enough to cover all the topics etc but as darren says the tiling is the easiest part its the background prep part thats most important and he covers this all. Start your own business or even if you want to tile your own house this course has everything you need. Thanks Darren/Tracy

JUST A QUICK SHOUT OUT TO DARREN & TRACEY AT NORTH EAST TILING I AM JUST BACK TODAY AND HAVE TO SAY THAT IT WAS WELL WORTH IT THE COURES IS PACKED FULL OF INFO SO IF YOU DO GO BE SWITCHED ON AS THERE IS LOADS OF INFO TO TAKE IN DID THE NATURAL STONE AND HOPEFULLY OPEN UP ANOTHER MARKET AND MAKE ME LOADS OF MONEY .IF YOUR JUST CONSIDERING THE COURSE THEN JUST GO FOR IT THERE WERE 16 OF US AND EVERYONE ENJOYED AND LEARNED LOADS . WELL DONE DARREN AND TRACEY AND BEST OF LUCK TO YOU IN THE FUTURE [NOW THATS £ 50 FOR THE GOOD WRITE UP DARREN ONLY KIDDING THE COURSE IS SH*T HOT MATE
had previously done another tiling course at a local training centre, but came away feeling that I had learnt very little that I did not already know, so I started looking around for another training course to do. I needed a course that was going to give me the information that I needed at the best price and in the shortest time, being recently made redundant and now self employed, time and money were both in short supply.
I chose North East Tile Training based on the feedback on the forum. Did I make the right choice?
An unreserved YES is the answer to that question, there was no comparison between this course and the last. You will learn loads of useful information, but you must be prepared to listen and put the work in. The days are long, very long, but when you look back you are effectively putting the hours of a two week training course into one week.
Darren is very knowledgeable and Tracey is very efficient on the business side, as well as making a cracking cuppa. Having had a few days now to reflect on the course and recover, I have not yet come up with any questions that I don't know the answer to and I now feel confident in doing tiling jobs that I felt a little uneasy about in the past.
So my opinion, and it is only my opinion, is that this course is very well worth doing, if you don't get loads from it, you must have been asleep.

hi everyone just a quick note,i done a tiling course with north east tiling on January, Darren gave me everything i needed to know about tiling and starting up on my own. after organising the marketing side tools and van insurance ect, ive gave up ma job and now im self employed using the knowledge from darren im plodding away, a bit slow to start with but getting faster. just like to say thanks to darren and his lovely wife Tracey for all there help, and id recommend the course to anyone infact my mate from my old work went down last week.

I've put down my deposit for a course here on the 23 of April due to the feedback received on this post. I'm really looking forward to it after all the great things people have mentioned about the course. I have a clothes shop that unfortunately after 3 years is going to have to close so I'm looking for something that is completely different to sitting on my arse half the day. I thought about doing roofing that was one of my previous jobs but every roof is the same where as tiling you seem to get to express yourself a bit more with different materials and patterns.
There’s a bit more variety. I've heard all the great things about the course and how helpful all the staff are(the lady on the phone was very helpful and kind)but is there anything that you feel that if you could take the course again you wish you would of asked? Something you didn't realise till after you finished the course. Is there anything that you wished you'd payed more attention to that you didn't realise till after. I know its going to be a great course, I just want to get as much out of it as possible.
Look forward to your course Darren
Hello everyone for all people thinking about doing a course at north east tiling training i am currently halfway through a 4 day course and am so impressed with the two days i have already completed. Darren and tracy have really made myself and the other students feel really relaxed. The course is very detailed and darren shares his wealth of knowledge in a relaxed manner His trade tips are great and simple (if you listen). looking forward to the next 2 days.

I have just completed the 4 day tiling course at North East tiling school............Well what can I say that hasn't been said. I never new I could learn so much in a short space of time, the course is very intense but very rewarding. Thanks to Darren and Tracey, looking forward to the Stone course already..............
Also thanks to Paul who helped me out a few times

Hi All, I would just like to mention that I have just completed a four day tiling course at northeast tiling training by Darren at South Shields. I do not know how Darren can keep all the imformation in his head that he has passed onto me in the four day course. (It will take me forever to try to store half of it.)
Darren is passionate about his trade and also the training that he gives, along with his wife Tracy. I would just like to thank them all, not forgetting Paul for all the training and advice that they all have given me over the four day's, from the practical stuff to the buisness knowledge. I have already set up a traders account and I am in the process of sorting out Buisness link on-line. Got to go now as the wife want's me to start tiling at home before I hopefully get too busy.
p.s. I have already booked the natural stone course and I am looking forward to meeting Darren , Tracy and Paul again in June.
Thanks again. Terry. Newcastle
Just a quick message to thank Darren for his training and help on this four day course. I attended the tiling course knowing nothing and came out with a wealth of knowledge, as Darren is a total expert, who not only has the technical ability to pass on, but he also has that knack to be able to transfer his knowledge in a manner that suits all. Dont listen to anybody who tells you of other courses being better than this one, as believe me nothing can touch it. I have waited some time to post this message as I have just left my old job of 23 years (Operations Manager for a 12 million pound enginerring business in Newcastle). I have just hooked up with a bathroom fitter and the money is starting to come through. No more 9-5 stress - all I have to think about now is the next crack I'm going to grout? If you want training then get your self in touch with Darren - make sure you also book for the natural stone course, which is also a must.
Daryl Johnson, Darlington
well got back last night off the 4 day course , the course is very intense my son in law as never put a tile on a wall in his life, but boy did he take to the course, infact his over at his mams now doing the kitchen for her ,Darren as time for all the trainees he is a true professional it was hard work mentally and physically but boy it was worth every penny, we got a conservatory and a kitchen to do next week, but more on the course we did not put a tile on the wall till the 2 day we covered business advice on starting on your own health and safety tools that you be useing through the 4 days, best ways to find work setting out the job , knowing where every cut tile will be before you even start i can go on for ever ,
if your looking for a tiling course you be mad not to book this one, and as for, Tracey she makes the best cup of tea in the northeast and allso makes you feel at home ps darren im sleeping with my sprit level now joke ,like to thank paul to for his time he helped me out a few times ,, so i like to say to darren and tracey me and our dean will not let you down thanks for the support,
steve, York
hi there, just want everyone to know i have just finished darens course at north east tiler training. The course was superb and has given me the confidence to get out there and start tiling straight away. The content was brilliant, although intense at times the way it is thought enables you to take it all in. Compared to the college course i had previously undertaken there is no comparison. Everything from the tools we used to the chocolate biscuits tracey supplied was fantastic. Just today i have visited another conservatory company and i am out tomorrow giving another two estimates on the back of that. so fingers crossed and a big thank you to tracey, john Travolta (paul) and especially darren.
I recently completed the 4 day tiling course at North East Tiling. Very intense but immensely informative. Got more out of it in one day than I did on a previous four week course!! A big thank you to Darren and Tracey for all their hard work. Having built on my previous (limited) tiling experience, I now feel confident enough to take it up full time.
Cheers, Ivan, Ipswich
Three months ago I was working as a welder (time served) in a fab shop taking home £263 per week. I was totally fed up of the work and the poor wages, and really fancied a change. I saw the North East Tiling Training course on the web and after a phone chat with Darren, decided to book on the four day intensive tiling course. I attended the course, paying attention to what Darren & Tracy were telling me and also asked a lot of questions.
In the first week after attending the course I put into practice what I had been taught. I am now a self employed wall & floor tiler who earns more on two days that I was in a week. It's not rocket science - attend the course, pay attention, ask questions and do what Darren & Tracy advise. You can't go wrong. Thank you Darren & Tracy for everything.
Steve from Darlington
Hi All,
finished the training course last weekend, I dont know how I managed to get home as I was so knackered. Darren really does try to get as much information covered in the four days, so I was worn out!! not used to working...... ahem!!
anyway I would just like to say how rewarding I found the course. I have a couple of jobs to do around the house before I am ready to tackle the general public, but Darren (and Tracey of course) have given me great confidence in whatever I might come up against.
Looking forward to the stone course now.
enrol - its a must!!!! however please don't if you are from Teesside, as I want all of that work!!
From Beatie, Leeds

From Disel
hi all , been on this fantastic course which was run by darren + tracy who were first class from the minute i walked through the door , the course was just fantastic , you learn so much in four days because Darren Tracy made sure everyone was relaxed + understood , if you didnt understand they were always there to help , the knowledge i learnt in four day will stick with me for a lifetime . i looked up many tiling courses before i went on this course at NORH EAST TILING TRAINING , but this one stood out way above the rest , i would recommend this course 100% to anyone who is thinking of going on a tiling course , a big thank you to darren + Tracy for a fantastic 4 days,
Rob Ferguson, Edinburgh
I travelled 1200 miles to attend this course, I would have gladly driven twice as far if needed in order to attend - absolutely first class, Darren you have made me realise how important structure is when teaching - you have designed a course that is very polished.
Will Bones , Manchester
Hi all......just finished Darrens course at NE Tiler Training (April 13) and i've got to say that Darren knows his stuff! After being asked to tile a few kitchens and and so on at work, i decided to go on the course because i wanted to know how the professionals went about things.
This course does not disappoint!!! I had a bit of tiling experience but i wasn’t prepared for what i learnt. Its full of useful info...everything from setting up on your own, scribing tiles and setting out methods. This course is a MUST if you want to learn tiling. Darren's a great teacher.... so if your a great listener (not like me) go on the course and you will learn loads! Thanks for everything you taught me Darren

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd drop a quick note about Chase Tiling. I could have posted this straight after finishing the 4 week course but i thought it would be fairer to post after my first job. I've just finished a 16 sq mtr kitchen floor, quarry tiles and lots of difficult cuts - in fact probably not the ideal job for a first one !
I was apprehensive, wasn't sure if I'd priced it right, wasn't sure if I'd taken on too much - but I needn't have worried . All the training I'd received at Chase Tiling was money really well spent. There wasn't a problem I encountered that I couldn't figure out a way round and all the hints and tips provided by Phil the course tutor came into their own. All I can say is that if you're looking for a course that is excellent value for money and run by a guy who can really do the job and not just talk a good story - look no further than Chase Tiling. Phil, if you're reading this thanks a million. The one tip I keep reminding myself of is "don't stand back and look at the job thinking how well you've done because you could be putting more tiles on !!!!
Tim, Glasgow
I went on the north east tiling training course a few weeks ago now and it was excellent. As i already have a trade i was a bit sceptical about learning another in just four days but the course was set out brilliantly and easy to follow. I cant believe how much I learned in that short time and wish I had done it sooner. At the moment I am working through the contacts that I already have from my painting business to get a start to the tiling side I now have. Got a few quotes to do already and have got a very possible link up with a kitchen place. My only advice to anyone would be book up as soon as possible and do the 5 day course to save having to go back.
Thanks very much to Darren, Tracy and Paul From Torfins
I cannot recommend this course from North East Tiling Training enough ,Straight to the point no bull ,Yes it is very intense , if you listen no probs taking in the info , if you don`t listen forget it ,does`nt matter how long any course is. Now I can offer my customers not only the Plumbing work I can offer the whole shooting match,I don`t have to worry about cowboy tilers dropping tiles in baths.I must also mention Tracy shes like a second Mother nothing is a problem .Thanks to them I have three tiling jobs that I confident to tackle already.
Regards Sorefoot
Hi, completed the 4 day course and the natural stone course earlier this month and had to register my agreement about the high standard of the material taught. I came on the course having completed over 10 tiling jobs and already had a fair idea of what being a tiler involved but the techniques that darren taught me totally revised my way of working. a big thank you to Darren, Tracey, Paul and Margaret for covering the whole spectrum of being a self employed tiler from the business advice that tells you how to get the most cash out of tiling to brilliant techniques of installation that would have taken years to figure out in the field for myself.
The 20 years experience that Darren brings to the classroom really shows. top notch course that i would recommend to novices or semi pro tilers or even some of the existing so called professionals that have been at it for years - by the way if the cowboy that did my mums old bathroom reads this, your a disgrace mate, go work in an office or something ,
from Shandy Boy
Just finished the 4 day course at "North East Tiling Training", The course is superb, easy to follow, very friendly with lots of fantastic tips to make tiling so easy!!!!....Well done to Darren, Tracey and Paul for a cracking course , Danny
Hi All I completed the course last week...hopefully, some of you are reading this, thinking of attending a tiling course course.I was in your position about 2 months ago and after reading the posts on this forum I bit the bullet and enrolled on NE Tiling.
Am i glad i researched the different training companies on the web...mentioning no names some of the lads did not cover on their course what Darren covered on the first afternoon.
The course is very fast paced with a great deal of info to take in, however I cannot speak highly enough of Darren, Paul and Tracey. Nothing was to much trouble and I have gone from a keen DIYer to a competent tiler who will not be afraid to take on a paid job... I had the fortune of staying with a friend whilst on the course who lived in a very expensive house I even had the confidence to tell him what a rubbish job the so called tiler did in his luxury bathroom pointing out to him the mistakes in setting out etc.... slither cuts everywhere I am now looking forward very much to the natural stone course So if you are thinking of going on a course give Tracey or Darren a call they are very friendly and everything will be explained to you..even helping you find digs etc.. you will not be disappointed,

Hi i went on the NE Tiling Course the week B4 Easter.I can strongly recommend it. Darren is so enthusiastic from start 2 finish. I never thought id learn so much. Also his lovely wife Tracy{makes a great brew}.They make you feel really welcome. Theres a tiling course right on my doorstep But decided 2 go to the NE .Thanks Darren from
the Halifax lads.
Can't add much to this this thread that hasn't already been said about NETT. It is hard work and I for one am glad I spread it over two weekends as a lot to take in ! Darren however is a brilliant instructor and you will finish the course full of confidence. I completed the course with a great bunch of lads who have stayed in touch. Darren also has a great sense of humour and the course flows really well with afew laughs along the way. Tracey excels at the customer service side of the centre. To put it simply if you are thinking about doing a tiling course this is the one to do.
Micky
hi every1 i was on the north east tiling training course in may with my son it was brill and darren and tracey make you feel very welcome. The course is very intense but very much worth it by the end and you won't learn half as much elsewhere. In less than 2 weeks i've got my tools, business cards(which i will be sending Darren 2 give them the once over)a trade account with the largest tiling company in ireland,4 clients and the chance of a contract 4 all council houses in n.ireland not bad 4 a 4 day course is
It just goes to show the work Darren puts into this course it's fantastic if it can work 4 me it will work 4 any1. Many thanks Darren and Tracy i wish u all the best 4 the future.

Hi just finished 5 day course on friday 25th may just want to say a big thanks to darren, tracey, paul and not forgeting margaret for all their knowledge help and hospitality, the course was very intense but to the point i have learned so much in so little time thanks to well structured course i have left the course with a great deal of confidence and knowledge for which i will always be greatful thanks again to darren and tracey for their patience, humour and of course the tea and biscuits
From Mark , Scotland
Hi All,
I started this course on 21st May 2007, I did the 4 day wall and 1 day Floor tiling course all at once.
All I can say is this course is the business. Darren and Tracy are fantastic and really know their stuff. I have done tiling before ( My own Bathroom and kitchen) and I wish I had done this course before I did it. I would have done it in a third of the time.
Darren is an excellent trainer, and you can tell that he has a wealth of experience and really passes this on. The structure of the course is marvelous and the hints and tips you learn will save you loads of time, the techniques he teaches you will leave you confident to do anything. The no mess silicone was remarkable. I have done silicone before and ended up covered in the stuff.
If your thinking of doing a course "Do this one and this one only". Other people on the course in the same week had mentioned they had done other courses and still learned more on this one. Do not go anywhere else. This is the course you want. I have handed my notice in (Big Step I know) but the way I see it you either do it or you dont.
Darren if your reading this - Many thanks!! The course exceeded my expectations by a long way. I have my first job already in 2 weeks time and I look forward to many more and a fulfilling career
Gateshead Col
Hello all, just thought i'd write a short thread to say some thank you's. I completed the Wall and Floor and Natural Stone courses at North East Tiling Training i i'd just like to say what an outstanding week it was.
I went on the course purely for DIY but am seriously considering starting up once i have done a couple of more jobs for myself and family. The level of instruction given by Darren was top class and with Tracey looking after us it was a really enjoyable week and i would and have recommended it to anyone thinking of doing a tiling course.
To Darren, Tracey and Paul many thanks again
Paul, Stoke ON Trent
Hi
Just want to echo your remarks and thank Darren and Tracey for a great week. Its been several weeks since I did my course and l have not been on the forums for a while but I thought I would come on to say a big thank you for the excellent training.
I have been on a number of courses recently but Darren's course has been a class above all the others in terms of the amount of information and the manner it was delivered. I have been on courses that have been twice as long but haven't delivered half the amount of information in a manner that could be easierly absorbed.
Three cheers for Northeast Tiling.
Hey everyone!
Just completed this 5 day course. Have to say it was excellent start to finish. A really friendly, down to earth set up.
A must for anyone wishing to learn to tile!
Michael Knight
I would like to let everybody know how great this course was. I went to NETT in march. As I had to travel over 800 miles to get there hoped it wouldnt be a waste of time or money. IN FACT IT WAS THE OPPOSITE great value for money(why waste time on a four week course when Darren teaches you all you need to know in 4 days?)
The course itself is very intensive, we were there from 9am till 7pm every night. The way Darren teaches is straightforward and to the point. Its a lot to take in but the way he gets it into your head so you can remember it is amazing.
Before this course I had never picked up a tile before, When I got home my first job was in a new build house, I had 2 shower rooms (all walls and floors around 25sqm each) and a kitchen splashback to do. Darren always said your first job would pay for the course fees and all your tools. He was right.( I hav'nt stopped since)
All I can say is go for it you won't regret it. Cheers Darren and Tracey
Malcom (the Orkney boys)
Hi all, not a lot I can add that hasn't been said, I haven't had much chance to thank Darren and Tracey and NETT in general as I went to London more or less straight from the course.
Went from London to Falmouth on a new build Pizza Express 500 + M2, fortunate to be taken on by my brothers tiling company. The knowledge picked up from the NETT course was priceless, to the point I nearly managed to blagg my Brothers business partner into thinking I'd been tiling for years ...lol, I came clean though
Looking forward to the next big job in a couple of weeks time, twice as big, picking up more experience and confidence each day, home for a bit with a few small jobs to do.
Soon, with the excellent start given from NETT and the experience I'm getting working, I will go on for myself full time.
Once again though, a very big THANKS, to all at NETT.
Alan P
hi have just finished 5 day coarse at northeast tiling training. I was sceptical that you could learn so much in 5 days at first but to my surprise i found the coarse very good and informative. Darren was an excellent tutor and put things across in a professional manner. I would recommend this coarse to anyone

Finished my course at nett, in mid June. i had done some d.i.y tiling and one small job for a friend. after being told i did a good job, i thought maybe this could be a new career path for me. Nett was recommended to me by a work mate who had been on the course, and i wasn't disappointed. Fast paced and full of information. Course is presented well by Darren, lots of laughs and notes. Very friendly atmosphere. Im glad i have my notes, every time i read them i find something else i hade forgotten.
A big thanks to Darren and Tracy for a very enjoyable and very fast week. I have just started my first job 11sqm kitchen. priced another kitchen on Friday. two more jobs on the horizon.
Homer
Iv'e just finished the four day intensive tiling course, i had done a bit of tiling before, but just in my own bathroom and for members of family.
To be honest before i got there i thought there was not a lot you could learn in four days, i was wrong, Darren, Tracey and the team are excellent, and have helped me gain the confidence to start up my own business, the skills and knowledge that darren puts across are both easy to take in, and very effective. Keep up the good work, and i'll see you again soon, to do the natural stone course.
P Binns.
also done the course in june cant say much more than whats been said excellent course my first job £160 my second over £1000 cant say much more than that

Hi everyone, just finished my training with North East Tiling Training in South Shields. I did the course over 2 consecutive weekends, and by the time I had finished the first weekend I couldn't wait to get back for the second one.
Have to give a huge thank you to Darren, Tracey & Paul for all the excellent instruction, the course was absolutely fantastic!! For anyone thinking about a career change into this line of work then I think you would be hard pushed to find a better route.
The information is delivered well, it's easy to understand and Darren makes the learning process fun , while still managing to get his point across. The more practical aspect of the course takes you from a complete novice to a really high standard in what seems like no time at all. I still can't believe that I can cut these shapes out of tile with apparent ease after being shown how only once. So thanks again all at North East Tiling Training for your help with my life
Cheers
Davy Falkirk
Hi all,
I just finished 4 day tiling course at NE Tiling and the 1 day natural stone tiling and must say how superb the courses are. The instruction is clear and to the point, yes, you have to listen and take notes and yes, lots is covered in the week, but this is what I wanted with having to take a week off work to do it. Darren knows his stuff and puts it across so simply, I have to thank him for such a great course, and Tracy, thanks for your words of confidence and advice and also thanks to Paul and Colin for both their advice and help.
I hadn't done any tiling before coming onto this course and yes, I wasn't great at the beginning of it, but this was just a confidence thing and am now putting tiles up with ease. I have just got my first trade account ( 50% off ) and doing a job next weekend. I've got the confidence to go out and market myself and this is because of Darren showing us how to do this and putting it across so well.
All I can say is, if you are thinking of doing a tiling course that offers a lot more than just putting tiles up on the wall, you need to go and do this course and if you want to advance, do the natural stone too - a must!! Many thanks to all at NET and a big hello to all who attended the course on the week from 29th July, all a great set of lads!
Steve
Just did the course 29th july very very good certainly given me confidence to go out there and mix it with the rest ,the information you are given is first class and Darren is an excellent teacher with plenty of tricks of the trade, and setting out is a breeze you will not be disappointed money well spent.
From Postie
Hi, Just would love to say a big thanks to Darren and Tracy at N.E.T.T,as well as Paul and Colin.
Myself and a mate done the 4 day course then the 1 day Natural Stone Course, July 30th-Aug 3rd.
What a great course it was, Darren must be the best in his field, he covers most every aspect there is to tiling, not to mention the business side of it.,which is what he kept drumming into us. If anyone is in in doubt as to what course to choose, Do the N.E.T.T..I done extensive research on most Tiling couses, and narrowed it down to about half a dozen, only to pick this, as the volume of positive feedback speaks for itself.. there is a lot to take in, but if your willing to listen it will sink in..
We left there with a brand new confidence and ready for a future in Tiling (had never even layed a tile before this)Got a few jobs for friends and family to do ,to get some speed and more confidence built up, then gonna unleash ourselves to the public. LOOK OUT! LOL.
Vinnie and Colin.
well went on the NETT course and what can i say but FANTASTIC! I went on with what you would call hardly any knowledge and now feel that I could take on the world.
Darren really gives you the confidence and self belief that you could do all the things that he says at the end of the course. I would highly recommend his course to anyone as he makes it easy to take in and also its really interesting as well.
Must make a mention to Tracy who keeps the coffee, tea and biscuits topped up. I thought that the business side of the course was really interesting and full of good info and help so as to get you on the first steps to taking over the world. Thanks again for all your help and advice.
From Grout and About.
I attended the 4 day + the natural stone course last week.. what can I say that hasn't already been said.... absolutely 'kin excellent
The course is very well structured and professionally delivered. Everything is given in layman's terms so no worries about not understanding any parts of it.
I can honestly say I've never learnt so much in such a short space of time. The other thing is, 'You're not taught anything you don't need' For the 1st time in my life I used adhesive without looking as if I'd been wading thru it
Yes, it is an intense course, but only in terms of hours put into it, the knowledge gained in just one week makes it the most sensible move I've made in a long time.. I couldn't recommend this course more highly, any aspiring tilers out there wondering which course to enrol on??? THIS IS IT....in my own humble opinion.. Any tilers who are self taught but haven't been doing it long enough to pick up too many bad habits....it's definitely worth a 'look see'
A Great big thanks to Tracey, Darren, Colin and the rest of the crew (even the dog) I Darren, I know you struggled with my accent...I forgot to bring my sub-titles
Conny
i went on the course in july just to be able to tile in my own house. After serving 22 yrs in the navy i was there with no real intentions just using some of my resettlement money!
The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish! I had very little experience of diy as a whole and was a total novice. I would like to endorse all the good feedback on the course and not repeat previous comments.
I have ended up buying a full set of tools and giving it a go on the big stage. I have used all the advice given and i am in my first week of work doing something i never imagined. I have 2 satisfied customers and money and satisfaction to show for it.I feel that all Darren has taught me has helped me to hit the ground running.

Any new tilers debating which tile course to go on, i would def recommend NE Tiling. There is no doubt Tracey is the real boss but Darren has loads of vital tiling experience, he could probably teach a monkey how to tile, HE REALLY COULD YOU KNOW.

Hi Just been on the course last week including the natural stone course. One of the best courses I have been on every thing you need to know & nothing you don't.
Darren & Tracy are both fantastic down to earth people. The only thing I could say against the course is not enough toilet breaks for the amount of tea Tracy makes .
Stayed @ the Kingsmere guest house & that was great as well cheers Russ.
PS. Don't go for a kebab
Thanks Darren keep up the good work
Hi all,
Just completed a four dayer over two weekends and very pleased with what I have come away with. As many posts have said, Darren, Tracey and Co very down to earth people. I know this knowledge will prove invaluable as I start out my own business, and put me a few steps ahead of the game. Especially the first 2 days.
Darren - I might yet be the one person who will cause you to regret your aftercare offer!!? Thanks Darren, Tracey and Colin.
Thanks Craig and Gordon too for allowing me to pick your brains
It would be good to keep in touch with the lads from each course, see how people are getting on etc?
Gareth (Wales)
Just back from the course... literally... half an hour ago!! lol...

Course is layed out superbly, Darren teaches is it in a way thats easy to take in and absorb.
I now have the knowledge and skills required to go out and do a job in someones home. I have plenty handouts to look through if I get stuck, plus I can e-mail Darren directly if needs be so...happy days!!
If your thinking about doing any other course your off yir heed...!!
Thanks to Darren, Tracey, Colin and the team for making the course so enjoyable.
P.S. The Sea Crest B&B is superb too, full english was better than ma mums lol...!!
Regards Falcone
Ive just attended the course 4 days ago, Ive done a few tiling jobs in the past but nothing could prepare me for the knowledge and experience Darren showed us in the course I only did the 4 day course due to time shortage but I will be going back to do the natural stone course after attending the course ive managed to get 3 jobs and get a huge discount from topps tiles all after 4 days from leaving the course, so I would like to say a sincere thank you to both Darren and Tracey for getting me through the course (see you for the stone very soon)
From Garum
Just finished 5 day course at North East Tiling Training last week and have to agree with everyone it was brilliant, full of great tips on tiling as well as running your on business. It is full of information from start to finish, the way Darren delivers the info across is excellent, and Tracey makes a great coffee, so thanks to Darren and Tracey for a very enjoyable time.
John Dundee
i trained at NETT. Absolutely brilliant course, Darren obviously in his day was a top tiler. Very knowledgeable not only in all aspects of tiling, but insight in to all other issues such as marketing, sales and how to deal with the public.
If anyone on this forum, especially from scotland thinking of doing a course, NETT, NETT, NETT.
I know there is one in Grangemouth but have heard some negative reports
Charlie Scotland
Finished my course at NETT yesterday 16.11.08. Cannot speak highly enough of the course or Darren and Tracey.
The knowledge Darren gives to you in five days is unbelievable and everything is explained so people with no previous tiling experience can easily take it in. You will come away with the confidence to sell, price and do the job without a problem because the knowledge is second to none.
Everything you could possibly Imagine is covered. You will find it hard to come across a problem out there and if by chance you do Darren gives you the means to contact him personally to resolve it.
All I can say if any one is thinking of going on a course in the future it has got to be NETT. Although I've never been on another course this one would set the benchmark extremely high. You will not go wrong with this course.
Thanks to Darren And Tracey.
Richard
Completed the NETT course last week starting 19th Nov. Hell of a lot info information and work covered in 4 days but the way it's presented by Darren makes it easy to absorb and remember. Marking out a whole project is so simple when explained by Darren. And if you need to recap on anything, you have handouts of each days subjects that compile into a reference of all that was covered.
In my opinion forget 4 week courses. Get along to NETT for 4 days, have a project to work on for practice when you finish the 4 days and you'll be confident to take on anything.
My intention was to learn to tile correctly to carry out work on my own home .. bathroom, two on suit shower rooms, downstairs toilet and my old mums kitchen floor. I took a few pictures (below) of the bay I worked on at NETT. When I got home from the course less than 24hrs later i'd showed the pics on my phone to some pals .... i've already got 3 tiling jobs lined up

Recently completed this course, Darren really explains things well ,very professional ,the business side iI thought was brill I got lots of inspiration.
This is the first time I have been in a class room for 24 years but I settled in straight away ,we all had a good laugh and Tracey made us feel right at home supplying the tea and coffee. A canny lass we all thought.
Anyway if you are looking for a good all round course this is the place to go to ,if you are nervous like I was about being back in a class room then dont worry ,you will soon feel at home. Things sometimes went over my head but the next day it all came very clear with no pressure, you can feel free to ask, there is no rush Darren will stay there until you all get it.
Regards Daryn
To any one thinking about taking this course then don't hesitate this is definitely the only course you should consider!
Just finished my 5 days there including the Natural Stone course and it was fantastic! There's not really much more i can add from all the other testimonials on here but thought i should post anyway. The knowledge and confidence Darren gives you from his training is brilliant.
He describes everything so simply its hard not to understand what he is teaching you. Before this course i would have been really intimidated going into a paying customers house and confidently displaying my knowledge so i could win the business from the customer but the tips Darren gives you are really great. Not giving away any secrets you will just have to try the course for yourself, you won't be disappointed! Darren is obviously a brilliant tiler but also he's so switched on as a businessman it would be stupid not to take all the advice he is giving you.
Also a mention must go to tracey who really is a lovely down to earth person. She really looks aftter you. All the other guys are great who help Darren out in the workshop. Also the lads i was on the course with were really friendly and if any of you are reading then good luck with your future's! And if your reading this then cheers for all your help Darren, it was much appreciated.
Chris Woodward
I took this course in febuary 09. i hadnt lifted a tile in my life.
if theres one thing darren and tracy do, its fill you full of confidence. i was trembling with fear the first day thinking everyone there would be quite knowledgeable and i would be a total misfit. by the last day i was so eager to get going that i felt i could tile anything.
and from that day, there hasnt been a job that i have worried about or felt was too hard for me. darren is always there for after-course help and queries if you need him.
once he explains the basic rules of tiling everything else seems to fall in place.
i went to the course with 101 questions but didnt need to ask any. everything was totaly covered. thanks for everything darren and tracy
Tactile
Hi I done the course on the 7th jan, had a good bunch of lads there and had a good laugh whilst learning soo much. ( if any of you are lurking and not posting, well get yer finger out )
be prepared for long days, lots to take in but as said before, if you listen and pay attention you'll be the better for it. you'll have our own notes as well as handouts, re-read once your finished and you'll get it.
Darren is a great teacher and colin and paul are great lads too.
Tracey keeps you supplied in the coffee/tea department and i'm still getting rid of it lol.
stayed at the kingsmere which was very good.
plenty of pubs, Indians for £6 for 3 course meal Chinese was nice too.

Was looking for a course in Scotland to save any travelling etc. But after seaching through loads of feedback the NETT course seemed to be head and shoulders above the rest. So booked up for 14th Jan. Just finished the course including natural stone and can only agree with all previous feedback. It was everything I required from a course and more. All aspects of running and maintaining a business were covered, from marketing to sales. And the actual tiling training was expertly done. Some of the techniques Darren has are unbelievable. If your looking for a course that covers everything you need I couldn't recommend this one enough. Worth the travel.
Cheers Mark
Happy New to you all,
I completed the course on 9th November 2008 I added the Natural Stone training to the course.
I took the course as I needed my bathroom tiling and could not get a tiler in my area. Although my wife located tilers they never followed up there promises. (There is a lesson here for all businessmen - do what you say, if you can,t then tell the client.)
Anyway back to the course. Over the past few years I have trained on several courses, Accountancy and Hypnotherapy. Darren is the best trainer I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Firstly Darren teaches the basics of business acumen. Your a business first and then a professional tiler. The course is very intensive and you may feel that you will not remember everything. Don't panic, the handouts cover everything and as time goes by after the course, things come back to you. The techniques Darren shares with you are brilliant even down to a tool he devised to save time. Time = Money! These alone are worth the price of the course. As an accountant I would advise my client to charger at least three times Darrens price. Darren pushes you during the practical part but this proofs to you your true potential. For me I didn't realise I could tile that fast to an acceptable standard. The Natural Stone course on Friday was again worth its price and to me while you are there you might as well come away totally qualified, especially if your travelling quite a distance to South Shields. I bought all my tools from Darren and left fully aremed to tackle any tiling job. I am now starting the New Year with a new profession.
To sum up I now have the training and knowledge to talk to prospective clients and tradesmen with total confidence. They will believe I have been in the profession for several years without a doubt. All because of the knowledge Darren shares with us on the North East Tiling Training course.
Darren's better half Tracey is brilliant at supplying the teas and coffees (Darren doesn't like stopping for breaks because he has so much knowledge to share), and a listening ear if required.
I came home and decided that the tiling in the kitchen was rubbish. So I have tiled the bathroom and kitchen floor and walls. This alone has covered my costs and I have a trade.
Cheers Darren, Tracey and staff.
I stayed at the Athol House B&B, idealy situated 5 mins from the classroom and town centre. Thanks Duncan.
Sorry for the long winded essay but I feel it is important that future pupils are aware of just how much they will learn. God Luck
Graham
My course was NETT, actually sat next to ivegotsTile. Course was very good, had some skills previous to course, but Darren added loads more and gave me a lot of confidence. Own business been running now for 8 months and just getting busier and busier. You do learn a lot after the course on the job, but for using correct adhesive etc, planning, and some business tips Darren is the man
Rosco
i did a course pre xmas but have been so busy with stuff i havnt posted yet . i thought the course was excellent and the pace was fast which i like but some might find it intimidating , though as darren kept saying though he,s giving you the information and the techniques you can practice laying tiles in your own time . i actually give lectures and train people at work myself and darren puts everything over superbly . i highly recommend the nett , since doing the course ive tiled my own kitchen walls and floor , a few other jobs and im booked up to the middle of march . doing my 1st ufh job soon ! i admit i only do tiling part time but i get plenty of work and ive only just started.

i recently completed the course on 14 jan . I done the whole 5 days and what a course it was i done the course as resettlement for leaving the army after doing 10 yrs.
I never really thought of it as a career until i done it as ive done a hell of a lot of courses whilst in the army and this course really is the best ive done I would recommend it to anyone i really learned so much not just about tiling but the business side as well. Thanks again to Darren and Tracey
Chris Brown
Finished the 4 day tiling course last week. Wasn't sure how much I could learn in just 4 days from never having laid a tile in my life, but was amazed at how much Darren can teach in such a small amount of time.
The pace was brisk but all areas are covered and by the last day I was working twice as fast as the first day, with no difference in quality.
Well done Darren and I would recommend the course to anyone
PS. Decided against doing the 1 day natural stone course as I am just doing this for DIY purposes, not trade, so didn't think I would need it. Sods law, my wife was flicking through Topps Tiles brochure 2 days later picking out tiles for the bathroom, and she chooses flippin Travertine
Ronny
I have just completed the 9 day plastering & 8 day tiling course. Derek (plastering) and Darren (tiling boss) were great and I learnt loads during the two courses. You are pushed hard but the results are worth it. All the staff are very helpful and try and answer any question.
I feel very confident starting my own business in plastering and tiling.
I would recommend Northeast tiling to anyone thinking of doing a course in either of these two areas.
Just finished at NETT and would like to say what a great experience it was. The family atmosphere and friendliness makes learning an enjoyable experience. Darren does not want to turn you into a tradesman, he will give you the knowledge and expertise in tiling to turn you into a businessman. His approach and honesty are very refreshing and the course content is excellent.I have been doing handyman type jobs for years and wanted to skill up on tiling and plastering. I did the 8 day tiling course and the 4 day plastering course. With some skills in tiling i had the opportunity to view the progress of some of the other students on the course. The transformation over the first 4 days was remarkable. Darren took complete novices and with a mixture of enthusiasm and pressure, and a desire to learn from the trainee, had them skilled up, and capable of tackling most jobs. I have had lots of instruction over my many years, NETT is one place i would recommend to anyone and would defininitely go back to.
Thanks to Darren, Tracy, Derek, Debra, Ian and the young trainee whose name i never did find out
From Russle
I can only agree with everybody else’s comments on here. I did the 4 day course and the 1 day natural stone and can`t believe the amount of knowledge I received in this time. The teaching is provided in a first class manner and the tips and tricks are amazing. I had done a few jobs for myself before but after doing this course realize how much better and quicker i could have done it. Even if you just wanted to do diy, this course would be a worthwhile investment. But at the same time if your looking for a serious career change this course will provide all the knowledge you will need to go out and earn a living. I can`t recommend this course enough, if your considering a course this one won`t disappoint. Just look at the amount of positive feedback on this forum. A big thank you to darren, tracey and the rest of the team for making it an enjoyable week
From Mano, West Yorkshire
Hello - So, I finished the four day floor and wall tiling training at NETT last week. Fantastic. It's pitched at the right level for a whole range of people.... I was a complete beginner, but there were plenty of people that had done paid tiling jobs previously on the course.
The direct no-fuss and fun teaching methods, worked well for novices like me, but for sure also illustrated to the more experienced how they've been doing it wrong, or how they can benefit from huge efficiency gains. It's a short course, and quick paced. However, if you simply listen hard, and pay attention, you'll have the skills and knowledge required to get stuck into tiling as a tradesman... AND businessman. Darren, Tracey and team are clearly enthused throughout the whole course, this is evident in the informal and thorough education they provide. I definitely recommend this to those starting out.
Their facilities in South shields are great, and it's nice to see your own handy work on the wall at the end of the course. I certainly had the confidence after the 4 days to get stuck straight into this, and started my first tiling job on Sunday, immediately after the course.... I also got trade discounts on the adhesives and grout etc, as explained on the course. Very happy with the results of my tiling, and eager to get stuck into the next one, to improve and get some good experience.
Cheers James
Hi, Just want to leave a quick message- This is a fantastic course that delivers exactly what it sets out to. I read a few feedbacks before going on the course so won't repeat all the praise that has already been heaped upon Darren, Tracey, Colin and Debra. I will say that Darren is one of the best teachers I have met and I will be back for the extra 3 day course. I have a few jobs lined up already and am very confident about completing them professionally. The best advice I could give about this course is LISTEN TO DARREN and also to ask any questions (except on Friday afternoon when everyone else wants to get away) no matter how daft they may seem - you will always get a constructive answer - I am living proof of that. All the best to Darren, Tracey Colin and Debra, I had a great week even though I was very ill.
Regards Donald
Hi, got back Friday night after the 5 day course with my head full to bursting point i know its been said before but Darren knows his stuff and gets it across fast and direct and spot on , there was a guy one the course aswell who fired question after question at Darren which he answered no probs think i am gonna have this weekend letting my brain cool down as the last time i was in a classroom was 20 years ago would recommend this course to anyone as you go home with the confidence you need to go out doing the job 1 word of advice dont go in the pub for a few pints on the thursday night thinking youve done the course cos friday is just as full and you need a clear head
From Kingsman
This is a really good course.
It is a faced paced intensive course and you'll work hard but it's well worth it in the end.
I liked Darren's Straight talking no nonsense approach and the other instructors really know their onions. Tracy and the other office staff are really friendly and helpfull too.
I'd also recommend the extension course as it builds on skills learned on the beginners course. I'm well pleased with what I've achieved on this course.
Cheers, Scruffa
I have just completed the 4 day tiling course with North East Tiling and also the one day natural stone course followed by the 3 day extension course all of which I would thoroughly recommend
Darren and his staff were very helpful throughout the courses, and the knowledge I gained was second to none. The girls in the office are so friendly and can't do enough to help you, which is much appreciated.
I had no prior experience of tiling, but since the courses I am confident I can start up my own tiling business. The skills and knowledge Darren teaches throughout all three courses are invaluable.
The 3 day intensive course was brilliant because you learn the skills to overcome the day-to-day challenges on tiling jobs and also to be able to design and create your own work of arts.
I cannot recommend this courses highly enough, particularly the 3 day intensive course which is like the icing on the top!!
Many thanks from Alex in Germany/North Shields
I have to say there was quite a volume of information to take in and the end of the first day I was pretty drained however once you go onto the practical stuff it all falls into place and Darren starts to make much more sense and is actually a good bloke and teaches you in a relaxed manner and will educate you far more than you thought possible just go on the course as a sponge and absorb all he has to teach you and you cant go far wrong
Regards Chaz
I attended a four day course(plus an extra day's Natural Stone course) in May. I had never stuck a tile to a wall or floor before then, but now, thanks to Darren, Tracey etc, I have added more and more tiling jobs to my Property Maintenance/Home Improvements business. The course allowed me to become more self reliant and to be able to get rid of an unreliable tiler (that couldn't tile around a sink!!). My father-in-law is a tiler and went on a course in the south of England a couple of years ago. However, I have been teaching him things for the last month that I learned at North East Tile Training and he has been blown away by them. He didn't realise how simple things could be. I have practically been turned into a business shark thanks to Darren's business/sales advice and techniques. I have more confidence in my pricing and upselling of extras. It all seems so easy now!
I would highly recommend this course to anyone with aspirations of being a tiler of any level. It was one of the best courses I've ever been on.
Cheers, Alan Machnik
I'm no computer nerd and usually too busy to sit on the computer and type so it's took me quite some time to get on here and post something but here goes! I sat the course with darren a couple of months ago now, and since i did i can honestly say i've been rushed off my feet with work! When the first job came in after the course i was past myself with nerves wondering if i could do it, could i remember everything i'd been told etc but after all that i got to the job got my head down and everything came flooding back to me. I dont know if darren uses a technique of hypnotherapy or summit but once on the job i could hear him talking in my head... everything he said came flooding back and the job went perfect... so well in fact that the customer had me go back in the following week to tile her bathroom to get it to the same standard as what i'd done for her in the kitchen. I've done a few jobs now and all have gone relatively straight forwards.
This course is fantastic... worth every penny.
All i can say is please dont do it though... cause then you could be good enough to be taking work away from me!
Chris Roper (Roper Tiling)
Finished my course on Friday and have to say it was far better than I could have ever expected.
Everything is at a fast rate and sometimes you can feel lost, as in what the hell is going on here! However if you just listen and hang in there it will all make perfect sense in the end. It is a course full of knowledge that you eventually realise all comes down to common sense.
I cannot speak highly enough of the course, I had never laid a tile in my life but now know that I have the knowledge and support (either by the notes given or by emailing Darren if needed) to make a go of tiling.
From my financial services background I have been on more courses than I care to remember but never been on one as good as this.
Gareth Davis
Finished four days plus the natural stone course on the 8th Aug. It is VERY hard work but also very informative and worthwhile. Not done any jobs yet but I have sounded out a couple of tradesmen and darrens idea of prices charged seem pretty accurate, maybe even a little conservative. I had a chat with a local tiling shop manager today and I was more than confident in all the subjects we touched on. So its onward and upwards for me business cards next, then a bit of advertising and marketing. I thoroughly recommend the course but bear in mind when you get home no one is going to do it for you !

Just finished the 8 day course at NETT and thought it was excellent. I had a good read of this thread before I signed up for the course as I wanted to make sure that it was the right choice. Even though it is a short course there is still an incredible amount of detail packed in and it is so fast paced. However I thought Darren was really good at getting the message across and making it stick, taking away the panic of missing things you may have had with a poor instructor. What else I liked about this course too is that is wasnt just the obvious about banging a tile onto a wall either, the running of a business is talked at length too which is just as usefull. The extension courses ar worth a punt too. The natural stone is a necessity and the 3 day advanced course whch is more relaxed and hands on is a good way to build your confidence Well worth the money. Cheers
Morton Tiling Services
Having just completed the 4 day course i have to say Darren not only talks a great course but backs it up with so much skill attention to detail and trade tips that no amount of money could buy. if you want the best then i would recomend NETT, its worth every penny
on my course there were 3 people who had never tiled ALL gained the standard to get paid work.
Conclusion Great Course Great Skills Great Backup you get the picture GREAT
Haisethorpe Tiling
Just finished the 5 day course at NETT and all I can say is that it was the best and most informative week I have had! Well worth the money, Darren is a true professional and if you just listen to him you will have more than enough knowledge to not only become a good tiler, but you will also become a great businessman!
Big thanks to Darren, Tracey, Debra, Paul and Colin and I'll see you all on the extension course once my knee has recovered!!
Ryan Clarke
I have just finished the 4 day plus natural stone tiling course with NETT, it is very intense but for only being a week long you expect it to be. As said many times Darren has a great teaching ability, he cuts out the crap and gets straight to the point. You learn a lot more than just tiling and Darren goes into a lot of detail on the business side of things, can't recommend it enough ! Cheers mate

Would just like to back up the comments of the many previous on this thread. Have two weeks ago returned from the 8 day tiling coarse after been made redundant having been a printer for 22 years. My trade is finished-digital, China, India. I've 25 years left so have looked at my circumstances positively and decided to hopefully make a career in tiling.
I researched many courses that were nearer to myself in Leeds but followed my instincts and travelled to Newcastle for 2 weeks. Every thing was as hoped, the staff who all combined created a great opportunity for myself wanting to learn, the overall knowledge i've taken on has given me a great base to build from and the main thing is now the confidence that has grown since returning. I also did the the 2 day plumbing coarse which when booking i was in 2 minds whether to.
My advice to anyone like myself with no plumbing experience is it's a must. It's already gave me now an all round service i can now offer to customers and also make things easy for myself. I've as my first paying job just done a bathroom that needed plying out. From what i've recently learnt the sink, radiator, and toilet came straight out without hesitation, I had the tools i had the method.
The client was delighted with the result. If i hadn't have taken the plumbing coarse i would have tiled around things knowing the result could have been by far better. The money earned on this 1 job has paid for this coarse so not out of pocket but the knowledge gained is now forever. Many thanks to Paul whose running the coarse Cheers to all.

Hi, I completed Darren's 4day tiling + 1day natural stone course back in August. I can only agree with all the positive feedback left so far. Although I had some experience in tiling the course gave me the knowledge and confidence to start my own business, well worth the trip over from N. Ireland.
Many thanks to Darren and the team,
Jonny, N Ireland
NETT course is honestly the best course I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. The teaching was conducted on an extremely professional level and the whole course was set out so to cram a lot of information in a few short days but done exceptionally well.
Darren, Paul, Colin, Debra and Derek were all fantastic and great people to get along with. I went onto the course having no experience at all, now i can safely see myself as a good tiler.
Thanks guys
Steve D
I have to agree with all the positive feed back left about NETT Darren and his team they are excellent. From the minute you are arrive you are made welcome and the training Darren provides gives you real confidence in your ability. I have done 2 courses with Darren and although I am still full time Army but with the knowledge I have gained at NETT I am looking forward to becoming a full time tiler in the future. A big thanks to Darren and his team
Hi just completed the course last week, also did the natural stone. It was a fantastic course, I have only did DIY tiling and basically didn't do that good of a job. I didn't realise how much prep and knowledge went into tiling but i doo now thanks to Darren and Tracey. I am hoping to be self-employed in the next few weeks, got appointment with the BIC today and business link tomorrow so fingers crossed. Worked in factories for last 14 years and need a change and want to be in control of my own future. Once again thanks to Darren and Tracey for their support and excellent course. Makame Pete
just got home from NETT did'nt realise it's just not tiling you learn but the business side of it as well.its suprising ow much you can learn in just 4 days darren is so switched on,i can't compare against any other tiling course as NETT is the only 1 i've been on,so if your thinking about just tiling part time or going down the self employed route this is the course for everyone but be prepered to listen as theirs plenty to take in, so thanks to darren tracey + staff its been an enjoyable week & would recomend to anyone thinking about taking up tiling, Andy H
Just finished the 4 day tiling course at NETT.I heard so many good things about this course and it certainly did not dissapoint. The course is proffesionally structured by Darren and Tracy, and covers everything about business side of things, tools for the job, adhesives to use, where to get the work and maximise your earning potential.Darren uses a wide variety of methods for the tiling which are so amazingly clever, but really simple. There a lots of issues to deal with but Darren is straight to the point, there is a lot to take in so you must listen very carefully, that is the key. Colin and Paul are really helpful too,so anything you are not sure of,they are only too willing to help. The course is very fast paced but with 20+years experience behind him,Darren certainly knows his stuff and all this knowledge is passed on to you.I would highly recommend this course to anyone if you want to become a proffesional tiler, this is the place to go!Thanks to Tracy for selling the course to me and debs with her help too.

Hi all,
finished the 4 day plastering course and the coving course yesterday and would recommend this course highly to anyone, i had my doubts about whether 4-5 days would be enough to cover all the essensials to go out and plaster for a living, the way Derek explains the different aspects of the course is fantastic and really easy to follow, there were 3 people on our course and everyone was amazed with the finish they produced. Start your own business or even if you want to tile your own house this course has everything you need. Thanks to Derek and Darren for all their help.

Hi just to let you all know im a local lad to south shields lived here 37 years and wish i knew north east tiling trainig was here years ago nevermind .The course was worth every penny (the wife) has ever spent just done 5 of the 8 day course back next week for the rest its been great a bit daunting however very informative Darren really does know his stuff infact theres nothing he doesnt know about the trade . Ive done a bit of tiling over the years thought i knew it all but didnt feally have a clue compared to now looking forward to next week to be bombarded with even more thanks Darren and Tracey and the rest of the team good luck for the future

Well ive done my last 3 days this week and this too was just as informative than last week . Like i said after my first week i thought i could tile before but didnt however i do now and its now down to me to start getting work and to perfect the technique.Good luck to alll the team Darren,Tracey,Paul ,Colin and Derek the plasterer.
Hi, I did the 4 day tiling course last week, and will be returning to the centre for my natural stone course. Its hard to add to all the comments already made by people as they are all correct and everything has been covered.
However, to anyone undecided about the course, I am extremely pleased with the service I received in return for my fees and would recommend the course to anyone interested in either setting up as a tiler or just interested in doing the course. I am a fireman myself, and looking to get tiling work around my shift pattern.
Darren, Tracy and Colin are all extremely helpful and are more than willing to go out of their way to help.
Thanks,Dodge
I just spent a week up at NETT, doing the 4 day and natural stone courses. Not the nearest centre to me (about 5.5 hours in the car) but definitely worth the drive. So much gets crammed into the week; it goes well beyond the basics, and gives you all the knowledge you need to work out any job. The advice Darren gives on the business side of things is invaluable, half of it would never have even occured to me in a million years!?! Lots of food for thought, which i'm still digesting now..
My only regret is that i didn't buy that Plasplugs wet cutter, i've not been able to find a better saw for anywhere near that price... Doh!
My thanks to Darren & the rest of the team

hi all, Just compleated the 8 day course at NE TT and there is not a great deal more to add. I dont wanna sound "melowdramatic"but Darren has got together a group of people and with no doubt a great deal of hard work on their parts, has developed a course that he teaches in a rather unique way, that is fast paced, very informative and a lot of fun (so its gorra be worth doin).if you are willing to learn these people can change your lives,be sure of that!! By virtue of the fact you are reading this you must be thinking of doing the NETT course,do yourself a favour,STOP thinkin an hit the buy button, the cost of this training is an investment,an investment in yourself and there is no better investment than that. So without further ado, take a bow "team NETT"
Regards Ged
To everyone at Plastering Training NE, Thanks for a remarkable course never believed how much you could learn in 5 days, talked to a few tradesmen before i came on and they were a bit negative about short courses, they were wrong, i hadnt done any plastering before comming to you and was really supprised at how quickly you can pick things up with a little guidance, everyone on the course done a cracking job, from rendering brick walls to the coved plaster skimmed ceilings, as you know i got all the tools from you and have jobs lined up to do, the extra ££ will come in handy for xmas.

To Derek and Darren
I attended the course in September after being made redundant and thanks to you both i am now running my own business and doing OK, wasnt sure what to do after getting the chop and was a bit worried so thought i had nothing to loose so dove in, im enjoying the freedom of being my own boss and business is going steady, a little slow but as you said the speed will come, im making a living and things can only get better, made a few contacts like Darren said, the business side is invaluable, done exactly what he said and he was dead right, best regards to all the staff, coming back to do the Tiling course to add another skill as i popped in to see what was going on there and talking to the lads on the tiling they said it was a great course too, see ya all soon

Hi there, Just been on a course with North East Tiling this week. I have never laid a tile in my life. I am already a plasterer and kept getting asked to do tiling so I decided to go on a course. Spoke to a lady called Tracey. She was very nice and very pleasant. I paid my money and thought no more about it until I went on the course.
I started Monday morning, met Darren and Tracey. Darren spoke in the classroom directly to us. Within 10 minutes I was totally convinced there is nothing that this man and his team do not know about tiling and more importantly the ability of running a business. I got much more than I ever expected from the course. I expected to go and slap some tiles on the wall. How wrong I was! By the afternoon session I was cutting shapes out of tiles. I just could not believe it.
I was filled with so much confidence regarding my own abilities. I went home at night and just could not believe how much I had learned about tiles and looking forward to my next session. I have came away after 1 week and have no hesitation in laying any tiles. I can only suggest to anyone thinking of doing a tiling course to have a look at this one. When Darren talks it is an absolute pleasure to listen to. Thanks very much Darren, Tracey and your team.

Finished my 4 day course and one day Natural Stone course approximately 2 weeks ago and can honestly say it was the best course that i have ever been on(having been on many courses during my life) and i cannot believe how much practical and theoretical knowledge i left with. Darren,Tracey and the rest of the staff are amazing teachers and school you not only in the practical aspects of tiling but the setting up and running of a business. After finishing the course on the friday i was totally shattered by the time i got home but full of every possible confidence about starting my own tiling business and since finishing have been busy promoting, advetising and carrying out quotes. Truly i cant thank Darren,Tracey and everybody else for everything that they taught me and will be eternally grateful. If i was going to give any advice it would be firstly pay for and complete the one day Natural Stone course,it will in time pay for itself and secondly dont look at or pay for any tools until attending the course and viewing the ones sold by NETT,great selection and well priced. The course itself and the tools was some of the best money i ever spent. Cheers Darren,Tracey and everybody else at NETT. Regards Tulsa
Hi, completed the 8 day course earlier this month and had to register my agreement about the high standard of the material taught. I came on the course having completed a few plastering jobs and already had a fair idea of what being a plasterer involved but the techniques that Derek taught me totally revised my way of working. a big thank you to Darren, for covering the whole spectrum of being a self employed from the business advice that tells you how to get the most cash out of the plastering game. The 35 years experience that Derek brings to the classroom really does show as most people on the course had done no plastering before, yet everyone had the same perfect finish that you would pay a professional plasterer to do in your own home by the end of the course. Top notch course that i would reccomend to novices or like me if you have done a little already,
Best Regards Tim, Blackpool
Hello all, just thought i'd write a short letter to say some thank you's. I completed the plastering courses at Plastering Training North East and i'd just like to say what an outstanding week it was. I went on the course purely for DIY and do up the house we have just bought, but am seriously considering starting up once i have done the jobs for myself and family. The level of instruction given by Derek was top class and with Debra looking after us with tea, it was a really enjoyable week and a great laugh as well and i would recommended it to anyone thinking of doing a plastering course. To Derek, Darren and Debra many thanks again.
John, Glasgow

Have landed my first job today, Kitchen laster ,splashbacks, slate floor and electric matt under floor heating!Good job we had that talk on slate on fridays natural stone day.going to look at a bathroom in the morning 2.Best of luck to you all,and thanks again to all at nett

Darren and staff, I attended your course a few months back now and would like to let everyone know how much I enjoyed it, it sure does put you through your paces mentally and physically and certainly delivered the goods, Darren and his team who run the centre cant do enough to help you and are very easy to get on with, After finishing the course i have e-mailed Darren a few times with queries, getting the answers back the same night on each occasion. The 8 day course I attended was far more informative than I or any one on my course expected, The amount of detail that is put in is unbelievable, much more than slapping on tiles in a mock up bathroom we covered all the important matters of what to be aware of before you even think about the tiling like how to prepare any surface that you are tiling, full understanding of the adhesives, different methods of setting the job out and fixing the tiles, measuring, i could go on and on, efficiency is the key with darren and some of his ideas are just a little short of genius, couldn't believe after the first day we would be cutting accurate curved shapes in tiles in seconds and i am talking under 10 . You may think its a lot to take in such amount of information in a short time, the way Darren has devised his course to get the info over so you understand is just brilliance on his behalf, only when you have finished can you look back and see how clever this course is. When we were doing our tiling we had different choices of what kind of features and borders we wanted to do, everyone made a great job of their own but we all had an understanding on how the different ones were done as they are all made from just square tiles just cut up, even the playboy bunny one which looked fantastic took about 30 minutes to do. The natural stone course was a great help as the third job i done was a marble floor in a conservatory, the money i got from that job alone payed for the full tiling course i done, Im off to buy a van next week as the jobs are coming in regular now, things are definitely looking up and i thank you once again for the personal help,

Hi Darren, Its Sean, one of the party from Leeds, the dot and dab guy. Thought I would say some words about the course for all the non believers out there, this is a damn good course, I considered myself a good tiler, i had done seven big jobs already before the course and because I was going to go self employed thought I better take a professional course, the lads at work said you'll never learn everything in four days, I know a guy who did a 8 week course, well that I say, SO WHAT. .... I'm a good tiler but the stuff Darren taught me opened my eyes, i'm quick but the stuff he told me left me standing and the Ideas he has with what you can make out of a £5 box of tiles was incredible. Trust me this course is worth the money....... He is true to his word which I know he is, what he told me we would cover, was covered very clearly and easily. .I would give this course 100% and I mean that, I learnt so much in the four days that I was absolutely exhausted by the end, as were all the other guys on the course, I cant recommend this course enough even if all you want to do is re tile your own house, you will get your money back and still have the skill forever. Thanks again for your support .........................
Silicone Sean , Leeds
Just a quick email to thank you all for the most enjoyable week ive ever had, the buz at the end of the course was fantastic as everyone was looking at what they had done over the last 5 days and had achieved, biggest thanks goes to Derek for all your patients in dealing with us all, you get the skills over in a really easy way to take in, got my own job to do then think im gonna give it a go and make some money at it, wish me luck
Tom
Hi Derek
Just wanted to thank you again for looking after me so well on the course, took me a day or so to grasp it then i was off thanks to you, couldnt believe the finished plastered room was done by me at the end, Was a bit daunted at doing a ceiling until i found out that it was pretty straight forward, still got to think a little which way to cut the mitre angle on the coving though, thanks to the notes you gave us it comes back realy quickly, see you soon for the extra 4 days,
from Gazza, washington
Hi Lads its tony the builder from Newcastle, thanks for a great course, just what i needed as plastering has never been my strongest part and allways used to get someone else to do it, not any more, excellent course, doing all my own from now on, Darren you are the man when it comes to making money from a business, the tips were superb, cheers matey
Many thanks Darren and team for a fantastic course, amazing how much can be learned in a four day course, very well set out and planned, Darren is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor.
Steve, Bradford
Dear Darren and Tracey, I am writing to let you know how much I enjoyed your 8 day course, I was unsure what my plans were after arriving from Australia a couple of months ago. When I registered for the course, like everyone I suppose, was a bit unsure what to expect, you put us all at ease straight away and after completing the course I felt confident, inspired and well informed which helped me make the decision to set up on my own in my tiling business. I am already hunting for a van , have ordered tools as well as making contact with various tiling stores in the area. I have lined up jobs straight away for friends and family, Its very exciting. The 8 days flew over and covered so much info in a short period of time. I feel that the theoretical grounding you gave us will help me be a well informed professional tiler. The course also gave me great experience and loads of info on running a business from what you need to get started to what tools you need to measuring, pricing and dealing with customers. Brilliant, It really is a school of excellence. Thanks ......................
Gary, Aussie Tiler
would just like to let everybody know how great this course was. I went to Plastering Training North East a few months ago. As I had to travel over 200 miles to get there hoped it wouldnt be a waste of time or money. IN FACT IT WAS THE OPPOSITE great value for money (why waste time on a four week course when Derek teaches you all you need to know in 5 days?)
The course itself is very intensive, i was there from 9am till 6pm every night. The way Derek teaches is straight forward and to the point. There are loads of different situations that you are in on the course and each one is taught perfectly with all the tricks of the trade. Before this course I had never picked up a trowel before,When I got home my first job was in a new build house, I had a bathroom (all walls around 25sqm) and 3 bedrooms to do with ceilings. Derek always said you would be really nervous on your first job but you would settle down straight away once you got going and your first job would pay for the course fees and all your tools. He was dead right.( I hav'nt stopped since). Comming back for the Tiling course so i can multi skill as people are asking me if i can tile after the plastering, more money to be had
Big thank you to Derek, Darren (business guru) and the lovely Debra who is always so helpfull on the phone.
Paul
Just a note to say thanks
We both came to the course having no experience in plastering at all, found the course very easy to follow and had a great time there as well, been finished 4 weeks weeks now, we have both taken the plunge and started up our plastering business and have done a few bathrooms and a staircases which went very well and straight forward, I now have a few more jobs lined up and I am confident to go out with what I have learned on the course to make a good go as a plasterer , say hi to everyone there for us, regards
Dave and Terry, Sunderland
Hi Darren, Thanks for the course I really enjoyed it. I am sending you this email in case any others want some feedback from someone who has been on the course. Having changed career a few times now Ive been on many courses, inc various building courses, computers and others. The way you put your course together puts the others to shame, its clear ,concise and covers everything. Its truly an excellent course. When you take a week off work, pay for transport, digs, the course, tools you don't want to waste any time. Its the first course I've ever been on that I can say that I was impressed from the very beginning to the end, nothing was missing and everyone had the same opinion as myself that completed it, you certainly know your stuff and how to get it across, everything was layed out in a relaxed friendly and most enjoyable manner. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. As you can see I 'am very happy, Thank You all.
Ed, Berwick Upon Tweed
Hi Darren, Thanks once again for the course, as I told you I was contemplating a more expensive and longer course than yours in the first Instance, glad I didn't and saved the money by coming on your course instead. You were right what you said about your course on the telephone, exactly as described. The money I saved went to buy the tools I needed to get started and things took off pretty quickly thanks to your advice on ways to find work and get the money in. I was surprised at how passionate you were in your teaching making sure everyone new what to do and how to do it right. The course covered more than I expected covering advanced techniques, never thought I would have done so well on even the advanced stuff and setting out with the borders and centerpieces, you explain things very easy, looked great when finished. I would recommend your course to anyone and is the best value for money I have had in a long time, quite a lot of information and graft but well worth it. Anyway wish me luck again in my new career, Thanks again.
Craig, Durham
I attended the course a few months back now and would like everyone to know how impressed i was, Darren and Tracey who run the centre are great people who just want to help, very easy to get on with and cant do enough for you. The 5 days i attended was far more informative than i could have ever imagined and was in a great depth of detail, its not just a case of Darren showing you how to slap on some tiles, Darren covers the details of how to run a successfull business and make money, all the backgrounds, adhesives, tools were all part of the course. I have now set up my business and doing very well, i am going back in two weeks time to do the advanced bespoke course, cant wait.
Jock Scotland
Hi Everyone at NE Tiling, Colin here, was on your course two weeks ago and all i can say is how pleased i am i came down, after talking to Debra on the phone that was enough to ensure me i picked the right course and it didnt disapoint, its amazing how much info you get through, the way darren delivers it is truley remarkable, every topic along the way is backed up with professional notes so you dont forget it, i feel as if i have been tiling for years as Darrens experience is somehow transfered into your brain. I would highly recommend this course to anyone and worth every penny, the best investment i have ever made, enquires are comming in now and im ready to start the ball rolloing, wish me luck,
Colin
Hi All, Would just like to mention that ive just finished an 5 day course at NE Tiling Training run by Darren, I dont know how he keeps that amount of info in his head and how easy he seems to be able to pass it on, it would take me forever just to store half of it, Darren is very passioate about his course and genuinly wants to help you suceed, Thanks to Paul and Colin who help out as well, you dont have to ask them for help, they are there before you need to. The course flew over and everyone couldnt of been any happier with it, Ive gone on and set up a trade account thanks to Darren and got my business cards ordered, cant wait to get started, darren has given out his personal email to everyone on the course and said to contact him staraight away for any advice needed, i took him up on it only to get a reply to the question i asked two hours later the same night, you dont get any better service than that. Excellant is the only word to descride the experience.
Garreth, Wales
Came to the course having no experience in tiling at all, found the course very easy to follow and had a great time with laughs along the way, been finished a couple of weeks now, have done my own bathroom and a friends which went vert well and straight forward, I now have a few paid jobs lined up and I am confident to go out with what I have learned to make a start in a tiling career.
Jeff, North Yorks
Done the 4 day course and the natural stone course which i found excellent, didn't realize how much is involved with tiling, very well laid out, the right mix of practical work and background theory. I would recommend anyone interested in a tiling career to have a chat with Darren or anyone about his courses. 10 out of 10 for the course.
David, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Hi Darren, been finished from your course about a month now, big change for the better than the factory I was in, first week was slow then started getting a few quotes in then I was away, haven't stopped since. Thanks very much for your course, wish I had done this ten years ago, I'm loving the freedom of being self employed and the money is much better than I was getting at the factory. Anyone thinking of changing career like I was, get yourself on this course and you'll be amazed at how good you'll be when you leave. The course is no nonsense just pure tips and knowledge for the 8 days from start to finish, Best of luck Darren.
Sammy, Prudhoe
Very good, taught me lots of things I didn't know and things I thought I knew but didn't at all, loads of tricks of the trade that saves masses of time. I would recommend this course to anybody that were considering tiling in the future.
James, North Yorks
A well balanced course on the whole, very informative both in written and practical tips, good easy layout of workshop to simulate every day situations. I feel confident in going out and doing a decent job for anyone. Thank you.
Tony, Durham
Having no experience in tiling at all, It was avery well structured course, very well explained, lots of practical work and problems to overcome, found it very helpfull and all the tips and tricks add up to ensure that I should be able to tackle jobs with confidence. Full professional outlook throughout the course. ( Chris, Cleveland)
Chris, Cleveland
Covered all parts that I expected, the most important parts covered in detail, gives you all the confidence to tackle all the jobs I will come across. Darren has given me ongoing advice since leaving the course through e mail and telephone calls and said he is only at the end of the phone if I require any more info.
Paul, Bradford
Most people are skeptical about how much you can learn in 4 days but Darrens course is well structured and the course gives you enough practical and technical information to enable you to do a simple DIY job or re tile a full paying customers bathroom. Whether your a keen DIY er or looking for a career change, this is the course for you.
Chris, Scotland
A plasterer by trade and being doing tiling jobs for about a year, came on the 4 day course to brush up on some skills, what an eye opener for me, learned the tricks that will just about half my time and realized how wrong I was doing it in the first place. Was amazed at how advanced the course was covering just about everything, cracking course, will be back for the 3 day extension, would recommend it to anybody.
Gary, Gateshead
Very Intensive, full of usefull information. Course was put across well by Darren . The notes that were given out on the course will be very valuable when coming to gather info that is needed for the various jobs that I will come across (very motivational). It is now the monday after the course, I have ordered business cards, got a grant from the local council, placed a advert in the local paper, getting business accounts set up and ordered tools. Thanks very much for a great time, well worth every penny.
Chris Kennedy, Scotland
Many thanks Darren for all you help and support during my five day course. I've recently set up an account with Palace adhesives and ordered the tools that i need . Its amazing how much I learnt in just four days. The knowledge I gained from yourself will give me a good start in my own business, but will also last for many years to come. A fantastic course and highly recommended.
